Online Education for Nurses
This 40 minute audio CE training program provides nurses with an introduction to the types of traumatic stress reactions typically seen in the early aftermath of medical injury and illness. The program demonstrates how to identify the signs and symptoms of emotional trauma in children and how to address these reactions in the context of everyday care. Using two case examples, the program shows how to apply the D-E-F protocol for trauma-informed care in real nursing situations and addresses common concerns that nurses have about assessing and addressing child and parent distress.
A 30 minute video education program for medical and mental health providers interested in learning how to provide truama-nformed care to ill and injured children and their families. The video follows Tommy and his family from the emergency department through inpatient and outpatient care, and allows providers to see how trauma and traumatic stress is experienced through Tommy's eyes. Psychological First Aid (PFA) Online Training (Nursing CEU's available)
A 6-hour interactive course for individuals new to disaster response who want to learn the core goals of PFA, as well as for seasoned practitioners who want a review. It features innovative activities, video demonstrations, and tips from the nation’s trauma experts and survivors. PFA online also offers a Learning Community where participants can share about experiences using PFA in the field, receive guidance during times of disaster, and obtain additional resources and training.
